In BSWAC, the discussions are deep, personal, significant, innovative, and solution-focused. Our members are passionate advocates and inspired consultants who propose solutions to complex issues based on personal experiences. We believe the most effective way to respond to problems in the criminal justice sector is to combine best practice knowledge with lived experience knowledge. BSWAC achieves this through a number of mediums: consultations with stakeholders; submissions to parliamentary inquiries; and academic research.
In the spirit of reconciliation, BSWAC acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea, and community. We pay respects to their Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
We acknowledge the ongoing effects of colonisation across these lands and the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victorian prisons today.
